Post-Jam Updates
just drive. » Devlog
A few minor tweaks here and there to make the aim of the project a bit clearer:
- To begin, I added a few introduction panels to explain the intention and purpose of “just drive” and encourage players to use headphones & the fullscreen function to fully emerse themselves.
- I also added a bit more variety to the music, as it got very repetative after a while. The piece still loops, but has some more musical elements to it.
- Added support for making the game fullscreen.
- Finally I fixed a couple of tiny issues that have bugged me since launch. If you’re curious:
- The options menu would occassionally flash on screen when moving back to the main menu (this happened because the animation was looping very briefly before the animation handler moved to the next transition)
- A random semi-colon was still in the script
- The car felt rushed when it slowed down at the end of the game, so I increased how long it takes to reach a standstill.
- I removed the quit button from the title screen, because it’s irrelevant in a Web build of the game
All in all though, happy with the effect these changes have on the game.
